Sports Performance Training

Mission Statement: We focus the training on increasing the athlete’s confidence to perform in his or her sport/activity; physically and mentally. We want our athletes to learn about fundamental movements (run, jump, throw) and apply them to their sport specific movements. We train movements in a variety of ways; force producing/reducing, elastic, powerful, speed, and technique/form. Every exercise/drill is intended to be functional (mindfully practical to the sport). Every exercise/drill follows a progressive development in a functionally integrated direction. We will track the progress of our athletes through a measurement and evaluation process which will lead the way for future training in a research based style. The measurements will be based off of sport and goals; Muscular Strength, Muscular Endurance, HR recovery, Vertical Jump, Broad Jump, Bilateral Hop/Leap Comparisons, Agility. The evaluation will be based off of the performance coaches’ perspective and the athlete’s perspective on how he or she has progressed and accomplished their goals.

Sports Performance Classes in the fall are being held from 6:30 – 9:00pm Monday – Thursday. Classes will begin on every half hour (6:30, 7:00, 7:30, 8:00) and will last an hour each. Performance Coaches are certified and have played or studied the sports and movements. Training methods/philosophy research/philosophy references: NSCA, ISSA, Vern Gambetta, Pat Etcheberry, Mark Verstegen, Micheal Boyle, Scott Moody.

Each class will be movement based and will (approximately) follow this format:

Warm-Up Period 5 minutes movement + dynamic stretching
Movement Transition increased mindful / functional movement
Plyometric Transition Force Production/Reduction/Elasticity
Power Development Olympic based exercises (speed of movement/technique)
Strength Development Core based exercises (gaining strength/technique)
Recovery System Enhancement Heart Rate / O2 Consumption / Muscular Fatigue Training

Classes preferably made up of groups with same sport or similar-sport athletes of the same training level. Class limit is 8 athletes (unless otherwise arranged with Keith for team training)
